Paste Papers and Gelatin Prints

I recently spent a wonderful evening learning two art forms, previously unknown to me.
Artist / instructors, Laurie Adams and Alison Kuller introduced our adult ed. class to
Paste Papers and Gelatin Prints, what fun!!!  They are simple yet distinctly different
ways of decorating paper.  The papers can be used for collages, book covers, cards,
lining boxes, and more!
Paste Papers are made by brushing pigmented paste onto paper, then creating design, texture and depth by using a variety of utensils, stamped or dragged through the paste. The results are interesting and the possibilities are endless!
Gelatin Prints are made by rolling inks onto a bed of set gelatin. By using flat objects,
like leaves or stencils, you can layer, print and overprint, changing colors and creating
richness and depth. The variety of options is infinite!
The results in the class were enormously varied, with all of us feeling pleased and excited
with the outcome.
I always say “ I’ve never met a medium I didn’t like”, and thanks to Laurie and Allison,
I’ve just met two more!  The class was so much fun, I can’t wait to experiment at home.
Above are the samples I made in the class.
