Niki du Bois

Nadia was not the only piece of garden sculpture that needed some cosmetic work done this year. My dancing ballerina, Niki du Bois, had not weathered the cold Maine winter well at all. She required a whole new coat of cement and a new paint job! The paint I had used originally, began to peel and crack, so I needed to try something different. I decided to use spray paint and apply it like a graffiti artist!  The first time I painted her, she was in my studio and I could spend time on a detailed design. But now she is permanently set in the garden and not easy to work on, so the spray paint  seemed like a good option. I think it worked well and only time will tell if it will hold up against the weather. She is not quite as bright and beautiful as she was before but the wild life around here seem to like her much better. Our little hawk has taken a fancy to her and sits for hours perched on her hand!!
